| After nearly five months away from the keyboard, I have returned, but unfortunately I come bearing bad news. For almost twenty years I have called Sugar Land home, but that is about to change. Due to a promotion, my family is leaving for north Houston, to the Spring/Tomball area. This past Spring Break was one filled with mixed emotions. Thursday before the break, I found out I might be moving. Friday I travelled back to Sugar Land for one of the last times. Saturday I was out looking at houses. Sunday we decided not to move. Wednesday I found out my parents had changed their mind. And Saturday was spent packing part of my room up. At first, I was incredibly sad that I would be leaving the only town I had known as home. But, by this past weekend I had finally come to terms with the move. After a year of change in college, this will be the final break with High School. Last May, I put away my class ring, in August, I sold my first car (truck), and in October I had an unfortunate falling out with a close friend that I had known for years. While I will miss Sugar Land, I will be making regular stops to both see my brother and my nieces and nephews, as well as keep my bowling buddies honest. Everyone I know has a car, and I will only be a few miles away, so whenever anyone feels the need to see me, we can easily get together. Five years ago, I found out I was moving from Meadows Place to Pecan Grove and I knew I would never survive. Now, after finding out I will have to move again, I have accepted that I will survive, and I will make the most out of it. | | |
| I despise eight o’clock classes on days like today. The buzzing of my alarm clock is enough to drive anyone crazy, and since it is about 3 feet below my bed I have to climb down the bunk bed ladder to turn it off. Cold days do not facilitate this. I wish I could just stay in my warm bed all morning and skip class, but since my annoying alarm clock went off, I am already out of bed and getting ready for the day. I knew the weather outside was cold, but I did not realize I would freeze my nipples off just getting across campus. Note to self, cold chocolate milk is not a good drink to have while walking in the cold. By the time I do reach the other side of campus, I am frostbit and cannot feel my fingers. This could be an overstatement, but if anyone if from Houston, you know we don’t do cold weather well. After forty five minutes I regain enough feeling to cross campus yet again for class numero two. Again, I barely defrosted in time to move class three. The weather finally got to me, and I left before the class even started, returned home, and went back to bed. Luckily I woke up in time to eat some delicious cafeteria food. No, those words do not go well together. I woke up from my nap, glanced at my room mates clock, realized I needed some sort of “food” to keep me going for the rest of the day. I use that term loosely because cafeteria food is nowhere near real food. So, again, I get out of my warm bed and bundle up just to go eat terrible food. Everytime I visit, I hold out hope that the cafeteria has made a good meal. Of course I was wrong again. Not only did I visit once today, I made the mistake of going twice. One friend, who claims to be awesome, convinced me that a birthday meal would be good from the cafeteria. Since she was quite wrong, I had my second waffle of the day. Good company, bad food. Give and take. Tomorrow is another day, and another possibility of warm weather and good food, though both are highly doubtful. | | |
| Alright, I woke up too late today to ever get into the natural groove of the day. Yes, I did get through calculus and studied for part of my journalism homework, but today still felt a little strange. Hopefully, I will be able to get back into my normal routine tomorrow, even if that routine starts at 730 in the morning. At least I won't feel like I have wasted the entire day. Unfortunately, the Astros lost, as well as the Texans. The Astros should have won that game, simply because the Grand Slam that put them behind came immediately after an extrememely bad call. Well, I guess I will go to bed now. I'm a little tired, and I know tomorrow starts pretty early. Goodnight everyone. | | |
| Today was a fun day. I was able to sleep in until 11:30 this morning. That felt really good. I love Saturdays. Also, I got to go to the UT-Texas Tech football game, where we crushed Tech 52-17. Another win on the road to the Rose Bowl. Then Taco Cabana for some dinner. Overall, the day was good. Unfortunately we are losing the Astros game right now, but there is still a lot of baseball to play. Speaking of the Astros, I got a new T-shirt from my mommy telling everyone that the Astros are "Rulers of the National League." Go 'Stros. Well, there's more baseball and football to watch, and homework tomorrow, so I will let you go. Have fun on the rest of the weekend. Quick update, astros have tied score at 3 now. Very awesome. | | |
| You've had a nearly two and a half week hiatus from writing here. Time does seem to have passed by quickly. Things have changed greatly since that fateful day, and I believe for the better. Life is going well, besides calculus. I haven't killed Logan yet, and I haven't thought about it in a few weeks either. I think this is a good thing, especially since this is my first time to ever have to share a room. Obviously I cannot say whether he wants to kill me or not, but I don't think I've been a terrible roommate, just a boring one. Overall, things have gone well. See you later. | | |
